The IRB relies on the generosity of individual patrons to enable important research and educational programs. Mrs. Ruth Jacobs, and her late husband Gustav, have been a pillar of support for the International PhD program, a program that has already seen the defense of 18 doctoral degrees. The PhD program attracts the highest caliber scientists from all over the world to give lectures and journal clubs to the PhD students at the IRB. This intense and privileged contact with leading scientists is one of the outstanding features of the IRB PhD program.
Mrs. Horten, accompanied by her associates, participated in a lecture by Antonio Lanzavecchia as well as the lectures of two students, Martha Neagu and Dirk Baumjohann.
