Elisa Fasana achieved her Master degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine in 2007 at the Institute of Neuroscience of the National Research Council (Milan, Italy). During her research project she characterized the intracellular localization of a mutant form of the vesicle-trafficking protein VAPB, P56S-VAPB, which was reported to be linked to an autosomal form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). She obtained her PhD degree in 2011. During her PhD thesis she investigated the transmembrane-dependent partitioning into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) focalizing on the resident ER protein cytochrome b5. She joined the group of Maurizio Molinari at the IRB in October 2011.
